At McAuley Community Services for Women, we support women and children impacted by family violence and homelessness to rebuild their lives with safety, dignity and hope. Through accommodation, legal, health and community support services, we help create pathways to secure housing, economic independence and lasting wellbeing.

We are now seeking a passionate Intake & Assessment Worker to join the ConnectED team.

\n

ConnectED works to ensure children and young people experiencing family violence, homelessness or crisis accommodation remain connected to education when they need it most. By supporting safe and timely re-engagement with learning,

\n

ConnectED helps build stability, resilience and brighter futures for vulnerable young people.

\n

In this vital frontline role, you will be the first point of contact for referrals, helping children, young people and families access the support they need while creating safe pathways back to education. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact during times of crisis and help ensure that every child has the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

\n

This is a full-time fixed term contract until June 2027, based in our McAuley office.

About The Role \n

As an Intake & Assessment worker you will:

\n

\n
• Intake & Assessment - Conduct intake, screening and triage to assess needs, suitability and education engagement requirements.
\n
• Safety & Risk Management - Identify, manage and expand family violence, child wellbeing and safety concerns as required.
\n
• Planning & Coordination - Develop engagement plans and coordinate referrals, handovers and support pathways
\n
• Stakeholder Engagement - Build effective relationships with families, schools and key service partners to support positive outcomes
\n
• Records & Compliance - Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with privacy, child safety and information-sharing requirements
\n
• Continuous Improvement - Contribute data, insights and reflective practice to support evaluation and service improvements
\n
• Advocacy & Support - Provide advocacy and practical support while maintaining clear boundaries with specialist case management services.
\n

Key Selection Criteria \n

Please note, we are only considering female identifying candidates for this position. McAuley Community Services for Women has an exemption to gender equality requirements.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

\n

\n
• Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related field, or eligibility under Victorian family violence qualification requirements.
\n
• Experience in family violence, homelessness, child and family services, crisis response or a related human services environment.
\n
• Demonstrated skills in intake, assessment, triage, referrals and service coordination.
\n
• Understanding of family violence, risk assessment, coercive control and safe information-sharing practices.
\n
• Knowledge of Victorian family violence, child and family, homelessness and education support systems.
\n
• Commitment to the values, mission and client-centred approach of McAuley and ConnectED.
\n
