About the Organisation

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is the peak body for Aboriginal land rights in NSW, established under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983. As a self-funded statutory authority, NSWALC works to return land, strengthen cultural and economic independence, and advocate for the rights and interests of Aboriginal people across a network of 120 Local Aboriginal Land Councils.

Under CEO Clare McHugh, NSWALC is renewing its operating model, strengthening systems, and building a high-performing, culturally grounded leadership team. About the role

\n

The Executive Director, Corporate Services is NSWALC's senior leader for finance, corporate operations and enabling services, providing strategic advice to the CEO and Council and ensuring the organisation's systems, resources and financial stewardship are strong, transparent and future focused. The role leads six management level functions: finance, investment oversight, grants and program implementation, IT, business process improvement, and people and workplace, with a clear mandate to lift organisational capability, strengthen planning and budgeting disciplines, and embed sustainable, efficient business practices across NSWALC.

A central focus of the role is lifting financial leadership and modernising systems and processes, while guiding a long tenured team through steady, culturally grounded change. The ED will translate complex financial and investment concepts for diverse audiences, partner effectively across the organisation, and support NSWALC through a period of organisational renewal. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding NSWALC's financial future, supporting the investment function, and ensuring corporate services are aligned with the organisation's mission, values and strategic plan.

This role would be suitable for a senior leader with strong financial capability and experience leading corporate services in a complex organisation. You can translate financial and investment concepts clearly, modernise systems and processes, and work confidently with executives, managers and Council. You bring a steady, collaborative leadership style and are comfortable guiding long-tenured staff through respectful, purposeful change.
