Head of Testing, Quality Assurance & IT Excellence

The Head of Testing, Quality Assurance and IT Excellence is accountable for leading IT software testing and quality assurance practice, while driving excellence across the IT function through automation, use of artificial intelligence and continuous process improvement.

The role provides independent quality governance across technology delivery, builds scalable testing capability across internal teams and strategic partners, and establishes a prioritised change roadmap that simplifies how IT operates, improves delivery effectiveness and creates measurable value.

The transformation remit is focused on improving IT ways of working, processes and service delivery through practical automation and AI adoption looking at the end-to-end activities performed within an IT organization. The role will partner closely with IT General Managers to ensure an optimal outcome, while avoiding duplication of platform, processes, product and delivery accountabilities.

You’ll make impact by:

• Develop and deliver AI adoption and automation roadmap across IT lifecycle.


• Identify and implement opportunities to simplify IT processes, reduce manual effort and improve delivery outcomes.


• Partner with IT leaders to prioritise initiatives, support change adoption and track benefits.


• Ensure initiatives align with enterprise architecture, data, security, risk and AI governance requirements.


• Define & track process KPIs / SLAs based on improvement roadmap.
  

Testing and quality assurance

• Lead the enterprise IT Testing and Quality Assurance function across internal teams and delivery partners.


• Maintain effective testing strategies, standards, governance and quality controls across the delivery lifecycle.


• Drive continuous improvement in quality engineering, test automation, performance testing and environment management.


• Provide independent assurance over the quality of technology solutions and use insights and metrics to reduce delivery risk.

Leadership and stakeholder management

• Build and lead a high-performing Testing and Transformation team with the capability and capacity to meet business priorities.


• Manage workforce planning, budgets, vendors and operational performance across the function.


• Build strong relationships across IT, Digital and the broader business to align priorities and resolve issues.


• Provide clear reporting on delivery, risks, financial performance and benefits to the IT Leadership Team.
  

What you’ll bring:

• Senior leadership experience across technology testing, quality engineering, transformation, automation or a similar enterprise IT environment.


• Demonstrated success delivering complex transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Strong understanding of contemporary testing practices and practical automation and AI use cases within IT.


• Strong commercial, stakeholder management, communication and people leadership skills.
