Warehouse & Freight Assistant

Programmed Skilled Workforce is partnering with a long-established Australian manufacturer & distributor to recruit a Warehouse & Freight Assistant for their Moorabbin facility.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across warehouse operations, freight coordination, inventory and customer service, rather than being tied to one area of a warehouse.

You’ll work across both inwards and outwards goods, ensuring stock and orders are processed accurately, freight is organised efficiently and customers and suppliers receive timely updates.

The role will also provide exposure to the production and workshop areas of the business, including assisting with the assembly of commercial hot water systems. Full training will be provided, and no previous fabrication experience is required.

The successful candidate will be someone who is organised, accurate and responsive, with a strong sense of urgency when it comes to responding to enquiries, resolving issues and getting tasks actioned.

Permanent Full-Time | Monday–Friday 7:30am–4:00pm | Moorabbin | $70,000–$75,000 + Super

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day inwards and outwards goods activities.
• Receive, unload and inspect incoming deliveries.
• Pick, pack and prepare customer orders and spare parts for dispatch.
• Ensure purchase orders, SKU numbers and quantities are accurate and complete.
• Coordinate local, interstate and international freight bookings.
• Organise carrier collections and shipment bookings.
• Liaise with transport providers regarding pickups, deliveries and freight requirements.
• Provide customers and clients with timely updates regarding orders and deliveries.
• Respond to customer and supplier enquiries via phone and email.
• Ensure enquiries, requests and outstanding actions are followed up and completed promptly.
• Complete stocktakes and cycle counts while maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Update inventory records using Microsoft Excel and internal systems.
• Load and unload trucks using a counterbalance forklift when required.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
• Assist with preparing materials and components for production.
• Assist with the assembly of commercial hot water systems, with full training provided.
• Use basic hand and power tools within the workshop when required.
• Follow company processes, procedures and workplace policies.
• Provide general operational support across the warehouse and business as required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is hands‑on, organised and reliable, with the communication skills to confidently deal with customers, suppliers and transport providers.

You’ll need to be comfortable working autonomously within a small team, managing multiple priorities and taking ownership of tasks from start to finish.

To be successful, you will have:

• Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, logistics or similar environment.
• A current LF Forklift License.
• A current Victorian Driver License or Australian equivalent.
• Experience receiving, picking, packing and dispatching goods.
• Experience loading and unloading trucks.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers and transport providers.
• The ability to respond to emails, phone calls and requests promptly.
• A strong sense of urgency and the ability to action tasks without unnecessary delay.
• The ability to follow established processes, procedures and policies.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.Good manual handling capability and confidence working with large or bulky products.
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence using basic hand and power tools.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Full Australian working rights.

Highly Regarded

• Previous experience coordinating freight or working with transport providers.
• Inventory or stock control experience.
• Experience using inventory, warehouse or ERP systems.
• Manufacturing or production experience.
• Experience working with purchase orders, SKU numbers and stock documentation.
• Previous experience in a small business or close-knit operational environment.
