Head of eCommerce | Trade | 12 month Fixed Term Contract

We are seeking an experienced Head of eCommerce on a 12 month Fixed term Contract to join the team. This role plays a pivotal leadership role within MECCA’s Digital team, accountable for shaping the vision, strategy, and performance of MECCA Brands’ online business as we accelerate towards our ambition to be the #1 Beauty Destination in ANZ.

The Role You Could Play

As Head of eCommerce, you will define and deliver a best-in-class digital commerce strategy that drives sustainable growth, market leadership, and seamless integration of MECCA’s brand promise across channels. You’ll be accountable for commercial outcomes through site optimisation, conversion innovation, merchandising, and compelling omnichannel engagement—elevating the richness of our physical retail online.

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and lead the eCommerce growth strategy to achieve annual targets, with robust forecasting and performance reporting to give the business clear visibility of online trading performance.
• Set the strategic direction for a best-in-class website and app experience, ensuring it reflects MECCA's brand vision and customer-first philosophy.
• Shape and influence the roadmap for new site functionality, partnering closely with the Digital Product Team, technology partners, and third-party agencies.
• Shape the experimentation and personalisation strategy — prioritising the conversion, discovery, and engagement opportunities with the greatest customer and commercial value, and setting standards for testing and success measures.
• Set the strategic roadmap for SEO, UX/UI, and emerging discovery experiences AEO/GEO, including MECCA's approach to AI-powered and agentic search.
• Act as executive sponsor of major eCommerce initiatives, accountable for outcomes, budgets, and stakeholder alignment with technology partners.
• Support the Digital Product team with robust governance frameworks for backlog prioritisation, sprint planning, and release cycles
• Drive the integration of digital trade campaigns with Brand, Marketing, CRM and Loyalty strategies to create a unified omnichannel customer journey.
• Manage the eCommerce P&L in partnership with the Financial Business Partner.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to elevate fulfilment capabilities.
• Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing eCommerce team, building internal capability and succession pipelines.

What You Will Bring

You will set the benchmark for digital excellence by anticipating consumer behaviour, leveraging emerging technologies, and embedding best-practice approaches across eCommerce. Harnessing insights from data and market trends, you’ll evolve MECCA’s digital capability while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

You will also bring:

• Significant senior leadership experience in eCommerce or digital retail, with a proven record of delivering commercial growth at scale.
• Demonstrated experience managing a P&L and delivering against commercial targets.
• Strong people leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Deep understanding of the key levers driving online performance, including CRM, personalisation, search and discovery, and customer engagement.
• Advanced commercial and analytical acumen, with a focus on translating insight into strategic priorities.
• Proven track record partnering with Product and Technology teams to shape and deliver digital roadmaps.
• Collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence across Supply Chain, Brands and Buying, Product, Marketing, and Finance.
• Strategic thinker with the resilience to lead through ambiguity and execute long-term plans.
