Are you an organised and detail-focused Accounts or Billing professional looking for a part-time opportunity?

Zaparas Law is looking for a Billing Clerk to join our Legal Costs team and support the billing and accounts process across our Personal Injury practice.

This role would suit someone with experience in accounts, billing or administration who enjoys working with numbers, keeping things organised and dealing with people. Experience in Personal Injury, WorkCover, legal accounts or a related industry would be highly regarded, but we're open to someone with the right skills and attitude who can learn the legal side of the role.

The role

  • Prepare and issue invoices following the settlement of legal matters.
  • Compile bills and related correspondence for clients and other parties.
  • Assist with billing analysis and ensure invoices are accurate and issued on time.
  • Maintain accurate client, billing and payment records.
  • Prepare and maintain debtor lists and reports.
  • Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up overdue payments.
  • Assist with the collection and negotiation of outstanding amounts.
  • Liaise with Lawyers, Legal Assistants, clients and external stakeholders regarding billing and payments.
  • Assist with WorkCover-related billing and settlement processes.
  • Maintain organised electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Identify discrepancies or errors and raise them with the appropriate team member.
  • Provide general support to the Legal Costs team as required.

About you

  • Previous experience in accounts, billing, accounts receivable or a similar role.
  • Experience in the legal, insurance, Personal Injury, WorkCover environment would be an advantage.
  • Looking for a part-time role, ideally 3 days per week.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organisation and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently.
  • A friendly and professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • The ability to handle confidential financial and client information appropriately.
