Icon is looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join us in the role of Water Industry Operator where you will be responsible forthe operation ofequipment,plant andfacilities at water and sewage treatment facilities in the ACT Region.

Key Responsibilities include: \n

\n
• Undertechnical guidance, directionand followingspecified routines and work instructions,operatemonitorand control the operation of plant and processes at the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre in all areas.
\n
• Undertake the detailed inspection, process sampling and operational analysis, and reporting of process performance and equipment operation, including the detection and reporting of malfunctioning processes and equipment.
\n
• Take authorisedand proscribedaction necessary to ensureoptimumequipment and plant process operation and effectiveness.
\n
• Prepare daily reports and logs of routine and corrective actions undertaken, including preparation of daily,weeklyand monthly reports on water and wastewater treatment plants operations, water and wastewater flows and other related information.
\n
• Participatein development of safe working practices/procedures as required andin identification and removal of safety hazards in thework place.
\n
• Ensure allWorkplace Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are followed and provide input into the continuous improvementcycleforthese managementsystems.
\n
• Provide assistancetosupporting business groupswithtests, measurements,investigationsand trials of a routine and straightforward nature associated with all types of processes and equipment, plant and facilities atwater and sewage treatment facilities in the ACT Region.
\n
• Participate inproject relatedtasks asrequired.
\n
• As part of a24/7shift roster provide support to the duty roster by acting in other operator roles asrequired.
\n
• As part of an on-call roster group, provide after-hours backup support and attendwater and wastewater treatmentfaults and failures asrequired.
\n
• Acquireandmaintaincompetenciesin water and wastewater treatmentwithin the competency frameworkas outlinedin the currentEnterprise Agreement
\n
• Undertake training innew technologies/techniquesappropriate tothe requirements of thewater and sewage treatment facilities.
\n
• Other duties within the employee’s skill,competenceand training.
\n

Who we are looking for: \n

It is anticipated that the successful applicant will:

\n

\n
• Possessa Certificate III in Water Operations orability to work towards completing
\n
• Relevant trade orDiploma in mechanical or electrical engineering from an Australian TAFE institution (or a comparable qualification). Alternatively, be able todemonstraterelevant skills, knowledge and experience considered suitable for the position.
\n
• Demonstrate experience andskills in the operation,monitoringand control of mechanical,electricaland electronic equipment including pumps, motors, air compressors/blowers and electronic sensing devices, orhigh temperatureincineration or combustion equipment.This is to includegoodtechnical skills and experience in relation to:
\n
• identifyingand reporting faulty equipment and/or process operation
\n
• maintaining shift records and operational logs
\n
• dealing with emergency situations with respect to major equipment failures or chemical leakages or spillages.
\n
• Possess relevant experience incompetency-based“on the job training”.
\n
• Possess relevant experience in the use of computers and computerised monitoring systems and equipmentsimilar tothose used withinIcon Water
\n
• Demonstrate a goodknowledge and understanding ofIcon WaterPolicies and procedures
\n
• Be able tomaintainphysical fitness levels to be eligible forConfined Space Entrytraining and SCBA accreditation.
\n
• Be prepared to work on a continuous rotating shift roster and be placed on an on-call roster and attend to after-hours alarms, faults and failures within treatment plants and water distribution system.
