About us

The Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 commits to the ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030. It also seeks to reduce the incidence of serious injury resulting from road crashes.

\n

Road Safety manages Victoria's road safety camera network and is a representative for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) in Victoria's road safety partnership. Road Safety contributes to this partnership in the operation of road safety cameras, and the policy and strategic directions of the broader road safety enforcement. Road Safety is accountable to the Minister for Police.

What you will do

\n

As Senior Commercial and Contracts Adviser, you will provide legal and commercial advice. You will help senior leaders make sound and timely decisions.

\n

You will:

\n

\n
• lead clear advice on road safety camera laws, policies and regulations
\n
• lead expert advice for tenders, procurement, contracts and contract changes
\n
• provide sound commercial and contractual advice to senior leaders and ministers
\n
• write high-quality reports, briefings, policies and presentations for senior audiences
\n
• identify emerging legal and commercial risks and develop practical ways to manage them.
\n

About you

\n

You must have a bachelor's degree in law and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practising certificate under the Legal Profession Act 2004 (Vic).

\n

You will bring strong contract and procurement skills, with sound legal judgement. You will need to work well with lawyers, engineers and specialist staff.

\n

You should also have:

\n

\n
• strong contract and procurement expertise, including drafting, negotiation and contract changes
\n
• strong analytical skills to assess complex legal, policy and operational issues
\n
• clear communication skills to explain complex matters and support sound decisions
\n
• flexibility and resilience to solve problems, manage change and work with people from varied backgrounds.
