Commercial Manager

As a Contracts Manager, you will lead commercial and contractual matters relating to OHTL subcontracts on project works, ensuring strong commercial outcomes, risk management, and effective contract administration across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage subcontract commercial and contractual matters across project delivery.
• Lead strategy for variations, claims, extensions of time, and entitlements.
• Oversee head contract administration to optimise project commercial outcomes.
• Lead resolution and negotiation of subcontractor claims and disputes.
• Manage preparation, submission, and close-out of variations and claims.
• Support cost control, forecasting, and project financial performance reporting.
• Provide commercial and contractual advice aligned with legislation and contract requirements.
• Support and guide Project Commercial Managers on contractual matters.
• Mentor Contracts Administrators and Senior Contracts Administrators.
• Collaborate with project functions including engineering, procurement, finance, HSSE, and project controls.

Qualifications & Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Construction Management or CM&E preferred.
• 7+ years’ experience in the engineering and construction industry.
• 7+ years’ experience in Contracts Manager or Commercial Manager roles on major projects.
• Strong experience managing subcontract packages in lump sum or high-risk environments.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong commercial and contractual acumen in construction projects.
• Proven experience in claims, variations, EOTs, and dispute resolution.
• Strong leadership and team management capability.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
