Moreton ATSICHS operates a growing network of healthcare clinics for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our model of care provides holistic health and wellbeing services to support our Community across their lifespan. About the role \n

As Youth Wellbeing Worker, your role is to provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support and advocacy services to vulnerable, young Indigenous people (aged 12 – 17 years) with mental health, alcohol and other drug, social and/or criminal justice challenges across the MATSICHS service area, with specific emphasis on improving youth access to comprehensive primary health care services.

Your day to day duties may include:

• Support young Indigenous people in engaging with MATSICHS services, including medical care and specialised Social Health support services, including care coordination, psychological intervention and counselling.
\n
• Facilitate young people’s access through referral and advocacy to appropriate agencies and support networks as necessary to help address social, financial, legal, educational and vocational challenges.
\n
• Advocate on behalf of young people, when dealing with various systems, community programs, and agencies e.g. Child Protection, Justice, Police, Centrelink, schools and hospitals and mental health facilities.
\n
• Establish effective and continuous cooperative working relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous community organisations relevant to your client needs.
\n
• Promote the services of MATSICHS clinics at events and activities targeted to and/or involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples based within the North Brisbane catchment area.

About you \n

• Current Criminal History Check.
\n
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD).
\n
• Current Working with Children’s Check (Qld Blue Card).
\n
• Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable young people aged 12 to 17 years old, including individual youth work and community engagement/development programs.
\n
• Certificate III in Youth Work and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health.
\n
