Financial Crime & Fraud Operations (FC&FO) is responsible for the operational management of BEN’s financial crime controls across AML, sanctions, fraud and scams. The function delivers investigation capability, detection systems, financial crime intelligence, regulatory reporting governance and operational support to identify, prevent and respond to financial crime risks impacting BEN.

About the opportunity

As an AML Investigator, AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations and reporting to the Team Manager you will support the protection of BEN from regulatory, reputational and financial risks through investigations of unusual activity reports across Financial Crime & Fraud Operations.

In particular you will get to

• Conduct independent investigations into unusual activity reports and alerts raised through various channels across BEN in accordance with BEN’s fraud management framework, operational procedures and regulatory affairs
• Undertake enhanced customer due diligence (ECDD) where appropriate to ensure strong understanding of customer relationships and behaviours, in accordance with the BEN AML/CTF program
• Support the preparation of operational reporting, insights and recommendations where required
• Participate in calibration and continuous improvement activities to support consistency of review outcomes across Financial Crime & Fraud Operations
• Ensure AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations activities are conducted in accordance with BEN’s financial crime framework, policies and regulatory obligations.

This is a 12- month fix term full-time position ideally located in Melbourne or Adelaide but for an outstanding candidate other locations may be considered.

What you’ll bring to the role:

To be successful you will have:

• Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience within AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, scams or financial crime operational environments is preferred
• Experience and knowledge of Banking operational functions, systems and processes with a strong appreciation of financial crime
• Excellent analytical and assessment capability, including the ability to review operational decisions and identify quality concerns, control weaknesses and operational risks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to identify operational improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives..
