Job Description

Community Forensic Mental Health Services and the Defendant Health Liaison Service are Statewide Services based in Hobart, Launceston and the Northwest of the Tasmania. The team work with clients who have been both legally mandated into the service but can also be voluntarily referred into our care. The Community Forensic Mental Health Services (CFMHS) and Defendant Health Liaison Service (DHLS) are part of the wider Forensic Health Service, which encompasses Forensic Mental Health Services and Correctional Primary Health Services. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role

\n

As a Senior Forensic / Clinical Psychologist, you will play a key leadership role within Community Forensic Mental Health Services, delivering advanced psychological assessment, treatment and consultation to clients involved with the criminal justice system.

\n

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will:

\n

\n
• Provide specialist forensic psychological assessments, interventions and court reports
\n
• Lead and coordinate clinical service delivery for psychology services
\n
• Manage a clinical caseload using evidence-based therapeutic approaches
\n
• Deliver risk assessments and expert advice for complex cases
\n
• Provide supervision, mentoring and professional leadership to staff and students
\n
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement and interagency collaboration
\n

You will need

\n

\n
• Significant experience in forensic and/or clinical psychology, including work with complex clients
\n
• Strong leadership capability, including experience supervising and supporting staff
\n
• A commitment to high-quality, ethical practice and working within legislative frameworks
\n

\n

Details of appointment

\n

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

\n

\n
• Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
\n

\n

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

\n

$131,122 to $138,984 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

\n

• Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025
\n

\n

\n

• Current Driver's Licence
\n
• Endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia in the approved areas of Forensic and/or Clinical Psychology
\n
• Eligibility for accreditation as a supervisor for the Forensic and/or Clinical Colleges of the Australian Psychological Society.
