Role

• The Food/Art Tech provides operational and administrative support to the Food Tech and Visual Arts learning areas. The role assists teachers in preparing for practical classes, maintaining specialist facilities and equipment, managing resources and supplies, and ensuring learning spaces are safe, clean and well organised
• The Food/Art Tech provides support to the Food Tech and Visual Arts learning areas through the preparation, organisation and maintenance of specialist facilities, equipment and resources. The role assists teachers in delivering practical learning programs by ensuring that classrooms, materials and equipment are prepared, maintained and available for student use
• The primary workplace for this position is the Food Tech area, with periodic support provided to the Arts learning area as required

Responsibilities

Food/Art Technician

• Prepare and organise ingredients, equipment and materials for practical Food Tech classes
• Assist teachers with classroom preparation and practical learning activities
• Maintain Food Tech facilities in a clean, safe and organised condition
• Undertake kitchen cleaning, laundry and housekeeping duties associated with the Food Tech program
• Clean, inspect and store kitchen utensils, appliances and specialist equipment
• Monitor equipment condition and arrange or report maintenance requirements as necessary
• Assist with stock management including food supplies, consumables and equipment
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and occupational health and safety requirements

Purchasing and Resource Management

• Raise purchase orders in accordance with college purchasing procedures
• Order, receive and distribute equipment, resources and consumables
• Maintain inventory registers and monitor stock levels
• Reconcile deliveries against orders and follow up discrepancies with suppliers

Catering Support

• Assist with the preparation and delivery of catering for college meetings, events and functions
• Work collaboratively with staff to plan and coordinate catering requirements
• Prepare food, assist with presentation and support service arrangements
• Assist with event setup, pack-down and cleaning activities
• Ensure all food handling and preparation activities comply with relevant regulations and College procedures

Arts Learning Area Support

• Support the Arts learning area with the ordering and organisation of materials and supplies
• Assist with the preparation, setup and pack-down of Arts classes, exhibitions and special projects
• Maintain Arts equipment, resources and storage areas in a clean, safe and organised condition
• Assist teachers with the preparation of materials required for student learning activities
• Support inventory management and equipment maintenance within the Arts area

General Duties

• Work collaboratively with teachers, education support staff and external suppliers
• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all occupational health and safety requirements
• Contribute positively to the College community and support the implementation of College priorities
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times
• Undertake other duties consistent with the classification of the position as directed by the Principal or the classroom teachers
