The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is the national regulator of Australian Government-funded aged care services.

We protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing, and quality of life of people receiving aged care. This includes managing complaints and feedback about the care older people receive.

We help build confidence and trust in aged care, by promoting best practice and a culture of safety and quality in the sector. We register providers and hold them to account if they don't meet expected standards of care.

We work with providers, workers, older people, their families, and supporters to make sure they understand and uphold older people's rights.

About the Team

Cyber Section

\n

Safeguarding the Commission's digital assets, information, and infrastructure from cyber threats and security breaches, the Cyber team focuses on implementing robust security measures, policies, and practices to protect against unauthorised access, data breaches, and cyber-attacks.

\n

About the Role

\n

The Assistant Director, Information Governance leads the team responsible for strengthening how the Commission creates, manages, protects, uses, retains and disposes of information. The role ensures information is treated as a strategic asset: trusted, discoverable, secure, accessible when needed and managed in line with legislative, policy and National Archives of Australia expectations.

\n

As an EL1 leader in the Digital Group, the position connects information governance practice with the Commission's regulatory purpose, digital and data priorities, risk appetite and service outcomes. The role provides practical leadership across information management, recordkeeping, assurance, cyber security, privacy and responsible technology use, helping the Commission make confident, evidence-based decisions and maintain public trust.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Lead information governance: Develop and improve information governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures and guidance that align to business outcomes, regulatory responsibilities and the Commission's digital and data priorities.
\n
• Deliver recordkeeping and information management outcomes: Support the proper creation, capture, management, preservation, access, retention and disposal of Commission information in line with the Archives Act, records authorities, National Archives of Australia guidance and Commission requirements.
\n
• Strengthen information stewardship: Improve ownership, classification, metadata, access, sensitivity, handling and lifecycle controls so information assets are discoverable, usable, trusted and appropriately protected.
\n
• Manage information risk and assurance: Identify, assess, manage and report information governance, recordkeeping, privacy, information handling and emerging technology risks, and coordinate assurance activities, remediation and reporting.
\n
• Align with cyber security, privacy and the ISMS: Work with cyber security, privacy, legal, technology and business stakeholders to embed information governance requirements into secure-by-design services, access controls, classification, incident response and business continuity practices.
\n
• Support responsible technology use: Provide practical governance for AI, automation, analytics and other emerging technologies, ensuring information inputs, outputs and records are managed according to value, sensitivity, ownership, retention, privacy, security and accountability requirements.
\n
• Build capability and culture: Develop clear guidance, education, communications and stakeholder engagement that help staff understand and meet their information management responsibilities.
\n
• Provide strategic advice: Give clear, evidence-based advice to executives, managers and service owners on information governance, records management, information risk, privacy and lifecycle management.
\n
• Lead the team and deliver results: Set direction, clarify priorities, allocate work, build capability, manage performance, support wellbeing and deliver agreed outcomes while managing risks, dependencies and changing priorities.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement: Use evidence, feedback, reporting and lessons learned to improve information governance services, tools, registers, controls and assurance processes.
\n
• Other duties: Perform other duties as required, consistent with the classification, work level standards and direction of the Director.
\n
• Salary offered will be between $122,620 to $139,850 per annum depending on skills and experience.
\n
• 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
\n

Roles are offered on an Ongoing/Non-Ongoing basis, with Non-Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.

\n
