We are currently seeking a VCE English Teacher who is passionate about language, literature and ideas, and who can inspire students to become confident readers, critical thinkers and powerful communicators.

About the Role

As a VCE English Teacher at ICOM, you will guide students through the challenges and rewards of senior English, helping them analyse texts deeply, develop sophisticated arguments and communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence.

You will create a classroom where discussion is encouraged, different perspectives are explored and students are challenged to think beyond the surface of a text.

Beyond preparing students for VCE assessment and examinations, you will help them develop skills in critical thinking, interpretation and communication that extend well beyond the classroom.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Has strong knowledge of English and the VCE English curriculum
• Brings enthusiasm for literature, language, writing and ideas into the classroom
• Can develop students' analytical, persuasive and written communication skills
• Creates engaging discussions that encourage students to think critically and express their perspectives
• Can explicitly teach the skills and strategies students need for VCE assessment and examinations
• Builds positive relationships while maintaining high expectations for student learning
• Enjoys collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a strong English teaching team

Qualifications & Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Secondary Education or equivalent
• Appropriate English teaching qualifications/method
• A commitment to the values and ethos of the College
