About the location

Based at our Essendon Fields office, located behind Essendon Fields Airport within a broader manufacturing precinct, you’ll join a collaborative, design-led team working across residential and commercial projects in an innovative modular construction environment.

About the role

As our Senior Estimator, you’ll prepare accurate, commercially sound and risk-informed estimates, budgets and cost plans across Modscape’s residential and commercial projects. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager and Chief Growth Officer, you’ll work closely with Design, Project Management, Procurement and other key stakeholders to support project feasibility, tendering and contract award activities.

Your day to day will include:

• Prepare detailed take-offs, cost estimates, budgets and cost plans across residential and commercial projects.
• Obtain, evaluate and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, including reviewing inclusions, exclusions and commercial risks.
• Identify cost risks, opportunities and project uncertainties, and recommend appropriate contingencies and value engineering opportunities.
• Prepare estimate summaries, cost reports and tender recommendations, clearly communicating key cost drivers, assumptions and risks to senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Design, Pre-Construction, Procurement, Manufacturing and Construction teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements and delivery methodologies.

What you’ll bring

• Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience preparing detailed construction estimates and cost plans.
• Strong understanding of commercial and residential construction methodologies, procurement and tendering processes.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural and services drawings, with sound knowledge of the NCC and Australian Standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with estimating software and cost management systems.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving capability, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to communicate cost advice, risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while working collaboratively across project teams.
• Experience in modular, off site, prefabricated or manufacturing based construction will be highly regarded.
