At SJG Midland Public Hospital we provide a comprehensive range of services including emergency medicine, critical care, day chemotherapy, paediatric care, aged and stroke care, maternity and general surgery. Our 307-bed public hospital operates under a public-private partnership between the State Government and St John of God Health Care. We provide a wide range of public health care services for people in Midland and surrounding communities including 24-hour emergency care, public maternity care, Aboriginal pregnancy and maternity support through Moort Boojari Mia, acute mental health treatment, medical and surgical care.

About The Role \n

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant (Renal), you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care within the renal specialty, with a focus on achieving optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources while supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC). You will have direct responsibility for improving and maintaining standards of renal care, developing innovative solutions and delivering outcomes aligned with service priorities and organisational objectives. This includes monitoring clinical performance and outcomes, reviewing and developing renal policies and procedures, developing and delivering clinical education, supporting and implementing evidence-based changes to clinical practice, and initiating and contributing to research, innovation and quality improvement activities to enhance the quality, safety and effectiveness of renal services.

This position will be offered on a permanent part-time basis, working 4 days per week between Monday to Friday. Hours are usually 8am - 4pm.

Key Responsibilities \n

• Practice in accordance with NMBA standards, regulations and scope of practice, with advanced expertise in renal nursing.
\n
• Provide specialist renal clinical leadership, advice and support to caregivers and the multidisciplinary team.
\n
• Coordinate and support the assessment and management of patients with complex renal conditions and renal replacement therapy needs.
\n
• Provide expert input into the planning, implementation and evaluation of renal patient care.
\n
• Promote patient and family education, effective discharge planning and coordination of community support.
\n
• Develop and maintain high standards of renal care through evidence-based practice, clinical review and continuous quality improvement.
\n
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes, safety and experience.
\n
• Monitor renal clinical practice and outcomes against relevant quality indicators, best practice standards and benchmarks.
\n
• Identify clinical risks and implement improvements to enhance the safety and quality of renal services.
\n
• Maintain advanced and contemporary renal clinical knowledge and skills.
\n
• Promote a culture of person-centred care, service excellence, professional accountability and respectful communication.

Your Skills And Experience \n

Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary health care environment, you will have well-developed skills in communication, including conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to educate patients and carers regarding treatment modalities, and to act as a resource and advocate for the patient. You will have demonstrated understanding and commitment to quality improvement and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards process with the ability to undertake data collection for quality initiatives and continuous improvement. A knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards including Nurses Act, Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety & Health, Equal Employment Opportunities will be essential for the role. To succeed in this role, you will hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of five years’ post-registration experience in renal nursing. A relevant post-registration qualification in Renal Nursing or a related specialty will be highly regarded.
