Director, Strategic Portfolio Office

As the Director, Strategic Portfolio Office, you will provide strategic leadership for the planning, governance, optimisation and performance of Queensland Health's ICT portfolio, ensuring investments align with organisational priorities and deliver measurable value and benefits. You will build and maintain influential relationships with senior stakeholders across eHealth Queensland, the Department of Health and external agencies, providing thought leadership, expert advice and strategic consultation to shape investment decisions and portfolio outcomes. Leading engagement with key whole-of-government bodies, you will oversee ICT portfolio management and investment governance processes, while driving investment planning, assurance activities and benefits realisation initiatives that support major funding submissions and budget processes. Leveraging advanced analytics and evidence-based insights, you will support executive decision-making by appraising, prioritising and sequencing investments to maximise portfolio value and manage risk. You will also educate and guide business sponsors in the development of investment proposals and business cases, oversee ICT portfolio risk management activities, and provide high-level advice to senior executives on portfolio performance and emerging risks. Leading a specialist team, you will foster a high-performing and collaborative culture that enables the successful delivery of strategic digital and ICT outcomes across Queensland Health.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

• Ability to manage the provision of specialist knowledge and advice over a range of topics influencing departmental and government digital and eHealth strategic direction in relation to governance and policy.
• Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to translate this analysis into pragmatic approaches to governance and policy creating real value for the business units delivering healthcare for Queenslanders.
• Experience in leading and developing teams of professionals in the development and implementation of ICT portfolio governance frameworks and policy agendas across a large and complex organisation.
• Proven effective oral and written communication skills as well as negotiation skills with the ability to initiate and influence relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.
