Delivery Lead HR

In this role, you'll lead critical HR technology initiatives, influence strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement across Downer's People Platforms landscape.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and collaborative Delivery Lead HR to join Downer's Group Technology team within the Chief Financial Office. This is a key delivery leadership role within our growing People Platforms function, responsible for delivering reliable, secure and business focused technology outcomes. Reporting to the Head of People Platforms, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of HR technology initiatives, partnering closely with People & Culture, business leaders, technology teams and strategic partners to ensure our platforms remain stable, supportable and aligned to organisational priorities. You'll work across a complex and diverse technology environment, influencing how HR technology supports our people, leaders and business operations. From continuous improvement and platform modernisation through to service excellence and customer experience, you will play a critical role in delivering outcomes that matter. This position can be based in North Ryde(Sydney), Collins Street (Melbourne) or Milton (Brisbane).

About the Role

• Lead the successful delivery of HR technology changes, enhancements and improvement initiatives
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand priorities, shape solutions and translate requirements into practical technology outcomes.
• Stay informed on emerging HR technology trends, AI capabilities, vendor roadmaps and industry best practices, bringing new ideas and opportunities to improve platform capability and business outcomes.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, modern technologies and data-driven decision making to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.
• Assess new technologies and market-leading solutions, balancing innovation with practicality, security, risk and business value to ensure Downer's People Platforms remain future-ready.
• Partner with stakeholders to challenge existing ways of working and explore opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort and improve customer outcomes through technology.
• Drive planning, prioritisation and coordination of delivery activities to ensure alignment with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Platform Owners, Solution Leads, engineers and strategic partners to deliver high-quality, innovative and supportable solutions.
• Ensure services are reliable, secure, scalable and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.
• Lead change, release, testing, cutover and service transition activities to ensure successful and seamless implementation.
• Drive operational readiness and ensure new capabilities are successfully transitioned into support.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, standardisation, efficiency and service performance across the HR technology landscape.
• Monitor and manage risks, issues and dependencies while maintaining alignment with governance, security and compliance requirements.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system stability, service quality and customer experience.
• Build strong relationships across Group Technology, People & Culture, vendors and business stakeholders to foster collaboration and shared accountability.

This is a highly visible role where you will contribute to the successful delivery and ongoing support of critical HR technology platforms that enable Downer's people and business operations.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced technology delivery professional who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology. You have strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex environments while balancing operational continuity, delivery priorities, governance and risk. You are comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and can translate technical requirements into clear business outcomes.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, Project Management or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant professional certifications in the role domain, service management, project delivery or technology governance are desirable.
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management experience is desirable.
• 7+ years' experience in information technology, digital services, delivery, operations or a related role.
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments with internal teams, business stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Experience translating technical, operational or business requirements into practical actions, standards and service outcomes.
• Experience supporting governance, reporting, risk management or continuous improvement activities relevant to the Delivery Lead HR role.
• Strong understanding of enterprise application services, business processes and service management practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical technology outcomes.
• Knowledge of change, release, incident and problem management practices.
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation and communication skills.
