Location and Compensation

• Parkville location, with multiple public transport options available
• $113,793-$114,382 (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About the team

The Research Office is responsible for managing and facilitating the scientific, ethical and governance review and ongoing monitoring of clinical research conducted at the Women’s. Governance activities within the Research Office include the review of institutional governance requirements for research, monitoring of research conduct for compliance with institutional, legislative and regulatory requirements, research governance procedure development, advising and guiding researchers on research governance and risk management.

About the role

As the Research Governance and Compliance Lead you will be responsible for leading continuous improvement of key governance and compliance processes related to the conduct of clinical research at The Royal Women's Hospital. Working closely with the Quality and Safety team, the role will oversee the implementation of the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework (NCTGF) and ensure the Women’s is compliant with the framework.

A regular day will see you:

• Work closely with the Research Office and the Quality and Safety team, to assess and implement systems to ensure NCTGF standards are understood and met for accreditation.
• Promote and maintain organisational readiness for external reviews of clinical research compliance and ACHS accreditation.
• Develop and review relevant internal policies, procedures, guidelines and SOPs to ensure compliance with the NCTGF
• Support the Research Manager to develop education and training programs in research quality, in collaboration with the Quality and Safety team.
• Coordinate the committee responsible for overseeing the implementation and ongoing compliance with the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.

About you

You are a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a strong foundation in research governance, ethics, and compliance.

You'll bring with you:

• Tertiary Qualification in Health Care, Science or relevant discipline
• Comprehensive understanding of clinical research regulations, codes, and guidelines (e.g., NHMRC, TGA, ICH-GCP) and associated compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research governance and ethics principles, including the regulatory and policy environment underpinning the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.
• Experience working within a hospital quality and safety framework, including accreditation readiness, research or clinical governance, quality improvement activities, audit processes and risk management.
• Proven experience in implementation of the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework within a health service
• Highly developed communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with external partners, and staff at all levels of the organisation.
• Proven capacity to define and reconcile complex and competing priorities, together with the ability to identify and engage key stakeholders in addressing the same.
