West Coast Language Development Centre (LDC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and motivated Speech and Language Officers (Speech Pathologists) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise in Term 4, 2026 or during the 2027 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within Term 4, 2026 and the 2027 school year.

West Coast LDC is a specialist school that caters for a population of students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Suitable applicants will possess extensive knowledge in planning for the speech and language needs of students with DLD to support class and whole of school language initiatives. Suitable applicants need to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as have highly developed ability to work independently. Graduates are also encouraged to apply.

The Role \n

The Speech and Language Officer develops and supports the implementation of specialised language programs in classes for students with identified speech and language difficulties/impairments. Suitable applicants would ideally build the capacity of teachers and other staff members to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to maximise language learning outcomes for students. The centre is highly innovative and utilises and drives research into what works best for students with DLD. Staff are highly collaborative with many involved in the development of innovative programs.

Speech and Language Officers would work as part of the early intensive student program, which caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 2. The centre is situated across four sites in Padbury, Hamersley, Heathridge and Quinns Rocks. Speech and Language Officers may be located at any site and may move across sites over time.

• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
