Delaware North Australia is seeking experienced and passionate Sommeliers to join our team for the iconic Melbourne Cup Carnival at Victoria Racing Club (VRC).Working within premium hospitality environments, including exclusive dining rooms, members’ areas, private suites and corporate hospitality venues, you’ll play a key role in delivering world-class wine experiences for guests attending one of Australia’s most prestigious sporting and social events.

This is a unique opportunity to showcase your wine expertise at an internationally renowned event while working alongside some of the hospitality industry’s best talent.Successful candidates may also have the opportunity to join Delaware North’s casual workforce, supporting major events throughout the year at the VRC, MCG and Marvel Stadium.

What will you do?

• Deliver exceptional wine service across premium hospitality outlets
• Recommend wines confidently and provide expert guidance to guests
• Support menu and wine pairing discussions
• Maintain extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals and vintages
• Ensure responsible service of alcohol practices are consistently followed
• Assist with wine presentation, opening and service in accordance with premium dining standards
• Collaborate with venue leadership and culinary teams to elevate the guest experience
• Maintain professionalism and composure within a fast-paced event environment

More about you

• Previous experience as a Sommelier or in a premium wine-focused hospitality role
• Strong knowledge of Australian and international wines
  Confidence engaging with guests and making tailored wine recommendations
• Experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, premium events or high-end restaurants is highly regarded
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
• Availability to work key Melbourne Cup Carnival event dates throughout October and November
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
