About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Supervisor to join a dynamic offshore operations team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of engine room equipment and utility systems.
This position is ideal for a marine engineering professional with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to safety excellence in demanding operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engine room and utility systems for start-up.
- Start, monitor, and optimise operational performance of engine room and utility systems.
- Execute safe shutdown procedures when required.
- Isolate and reinstate equipment and systems for maintenance activities.
- Support the safe and efficient operation of engine room equipment and associated utility systems.
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendor technicians.
- Conduct toolbox talks, work briefings, and safety meetings.
- Coordinate personnel, materials, tools, and resources effectively.
- Support competency development and on-the-job training of team members.
- Promote a strong safety culture and positive team environment.
Emergency Response & Incident Management
- Identify and respond to developing operational or emergency situations.
- Assist in maintaining control during equipment failures, leaks, fires, adverse weather conditions, and other critical events.
- Escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in emergency drills and demonstrate competency in emergency response duties.
Environmental Compliance
- Monitor environmental control measures and operational discharges.
- Ensure waste disposal and materials management activities comply with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report environmental incidents and unplanned discharges.
- Promote efficient use of PPE, spare parts, tools, and consumables.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- EOOW (Engineer Officer of the Watch) certification in accordance with STCW Regulation AIII/1.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Watchkeeping Marine Engineer.
- Experience operating and maintaining engine room and utility systems.
- Current offshore medical certification (ENG1 or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and maintenance procedures.
Desirable
- Steam turbine watchkeeping experience.
- VLCC or large marine vessel experience.
- Previous offshore production or marine operations experience.
- Experience using maintenance management systems such as AMOS, Maximo, or similar.
