We are currently seeking an energetic and motivated Graduate Engineer to join our team as part of a 12-month Graduate Program.

Working closely with our Project, Drafting, Estimating and Production teams, you will play an important role in supporting the successful delivery of our Tier 1 commercial steel fabrication projects. The role will primarily focus on procurement, purchasing, material planning and stock management while providing you with broad exposure to the wider business and the opportunity to develop your technical and project management skills.

Using your understanding of engineering drawings and shop drawings, you will assist in determining project material requirements, coordinating purchasing and managing the movement of materials from initial order through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

During your 12-month Graduate Program, with guidance and support from experienced managers and colleagues, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing procurement and purchasing requirements across multiple projects
• Coordinating the movement of materials from ordering through to construction
• Reviewing engineering drawings and shop drawings to prepare accurate project material lists
• Monitoring material requirements and stock levels to minimise over ordering and unnecessary costs
• Conducting regular stock takes and maintaining accurate stock records
• Obtaining supplier quotations, preparing costed material lists and submitting orders to the Project Manager for approval
• Placing and coordinating orders in line with production schedules and project deadlines
• Monitoring supplier lead times and deliveries to ensure materials are available when required
• Coordinating materials that need to be sent off site for galvanising, painting or other processes
• Tracking materials through each stage of the process and ensuring their timely return to the production facility or site
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, quality and reliable delivery
• Working collaboratively across project management, estimating, drafting and production to develop a broad understanding of the business
• Supporting the project team with day-to-day coordination and problem solving
• Identifying opportunities to improve procurement, stock management and project processes

Key Competencies & Skills

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Preferably, you will be a recent university graduate or completing your studies
• Previous industry experience is favorable but not essential
• A strong ambition to develop your skills and build a long-term career
• A willingness to learn, take responsibility and contribute to a growing business
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A solution-focused approach with strong accountability, initiative and follow-through
• A positive "can-do" attitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• The ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a busy project environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• A current driver's Licence
• Willingness to travel to project and work sites when required
