Consultant Anaesthetist | Major Regional Referral Hospital | QLD
Consultant Anaesthetist | Major Regional Referral Hospital | QLD
We are keen to connect with Consultant Anaesthetists interested in full-time specialist practice within a major regional hospital in Queensland.
The role offers broad anaesthetic practice within a substantial regional service, with the opportunity to contribute senior clinical expertise across surgical and procedural care and work closely with perioperative, critical care and multidisciplinary teams.
A particular professional strength is the hospital’s established role in specialist care for the wider region, combined with significant investment in future surgical and critical care capacity. The health service identifies the hospital as one of its busiest facilities and a provider of specialist services for patients across the broader catchment.
For FANZCAs seeking regional practice, the setting offers a combination of clinical breadth, specialist autonomy, trainee supervision and participation in a service preparing for substantial expansion.
International Medical Graduates assessed as partially or substantially comparable are encouraged to make contact.
The Hospital
The hospital provides acute and specialist services within a regional health service caring for a growing population. The wider health service population was approximately 219,000 in 2019 and is projected to exceed 258,000 by 2036.
Importantly for Anaesthetists, the hospital is an ANZCA-accredited training site, with ANZCA currently listing approval for 52 weeks across Introductory, Basic and Advanced Training.
The hospital is also the focus of one of Queensland's largest current health infrastructure projects. Plans for the new hospital include:
More than 410 beds and treatment spaces when complete
At least 139 additional overnight beds
New operating rooms
Expanded surgical and diagnostic services
Level 5 emergency and maternity services
Rooftop helipad with direct critical-care connectivity
Dedicated teaching, training and research spaces
The rooftop helipad is planned with dedicated lift access to the operating suite, ICU, Emergency Department and medical imaging, supporting rapid transfer of critically unwell patients.
