The Role

\n

Newman SHS has enjoyed growing success in Drama over recent years, including strong participation in the local YOH Fest (Youth on Health Festival) program, with a recent entry placing in the top 20 across the state!

\n

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Drama teacher who is excited by the opportunity to build on this momentum and help shape the future of Drama at Newman Senior High School. This is an opportunity to make the program your own, grow student participation and create meaningful performance opportunities within the school and wider community.

\n

Applicants should have the ability to teach secondary Drama and sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum. Our longer-term aspiration is to continue building the Drama program and establish a strong senior secondary pathway. The successful applicant will initially teach Drama alongside a second learning area, with the aim of increasing the Drama component of the role as student participation grows.

We are looking for someone who brings energy, high expectations and strong relationships; someone willing to be hands-on, embrace the opportunities that come with working in a regional community and contribute beyond the classroom to enrich student experiences and strengthen Performing Arts at Newman SHS.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

\n

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.

• apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and

• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
