Ararat Abattoirs Pty Ltd is a privately owned meat processing company employing up to 350 people. We specialise in the processing and export of quality mutton, lamb and goat meat, as well as sheep skins.

\n

We are seeking Full-Time Authorised Officers (Meat Inspectors) to join our team.

The Role \n

As an Authorised Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety, quality and compliance of meat products produced for export.

\n

Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 6:00am to 4:00pm , providing a consistent four-day working week.

Key Responsibilities \n

\n
• Conduct ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections of livestock and meat products.
\n
• Carcass, offal, disease and hygiene inspections
\n
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and Australian meat inspection standards.
\n
• Identify and report non-compliance issues and potential risks to public health.
\n
• Collect samples for laboratory testing as required.
\n
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
\n
• Liaise with plant personnel, veterinarians and other relevant stakeholders.
\n
• Carry out inspection duties in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
\n

Skill & Experience \n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate IV in Meat Processing (Meat Safety).
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of meat processing and inspection procedures.
\n
• An understanding of Australian meat safety standards and regulations.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
\n
• The ability to work effectively in a physically demanding processing environment.
\n
• A strong commitment to food safety, quality and workplace standards.
\n
