About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Post Separation Practitioner to provide education, intake, assessment and support to individuals and families navigating separation. This is a full-time role that supports children to have positive and healthy relationships with both parents during and after separation, while maintaining a strong child-focused and safety-informed practice framework.

As the Post Separation Practitioner, you will play a key coordination role within Family Law Services, including client intake and assessment, information, advice and referral, child-focused education, case planning, facilitation of group education programs, and service delivery to individuals and families impacted by separation.

Additionally, you will:

• Undertake client intake and assessment, including gathering relevant information, screening for risk factors, completing safety planning, assessing suitability for joint sessions, determining appropriate interventions and making referrals.
• Develop and implement case management plans that maintain child-focused practice and support the needs of clients and families.
• Deliver education to groups and individuals impacted by separation, including separated parents, grandparents, children and young people.
• Support clients to understand child development, the impact of family violence and conflict on children, and strategies that enhance child-focused parenting.
• Maintain confidentiality, duty of care and compliance with legislative, funding and organisational requirements, including accurate case notes, risk documentation and statistical reporting.
• Work collaboratively with RAQ employees and external stakeholders to provide an integrated and responsive service.

About You

You are a reflective, client-centred practitioner with experience supporting families in high-conflict and complex separation contexts. You bring strong assessment, communication and facilitation skills, and you are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive and child-focused approach in your work.

Additionally, you have:

• A relevant undergraduate degree in Social or Behavioural Sciences.
• Experience working with families in high-conflict situations and managing caseloads, including with involuntary clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a child-focused practice framework.
• Sound knowledge of the impact of trauma, conflict and family violence on children, their development and needs.
• Knowledge and understanding of current and relevant legislation and regulations relating to family law, domestic and family violence, and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong time management, and confidence using Microsoft Office, email and web-based systems.
• Highly desired attributes include registration as a Circle of Security facilitator, a postgraduate qualification in Behavioural or Social Science, experience working with clients in crisis situations and demonstrated group facilitation experience.

Annual salary on offer starts from $91,000 plus superannuation (pro rata for part-time) to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience.
