DC Tech & Service Operations Manager

Job Summary：
The DC Tech and Service Ops Manager oversees District Cooling service operations, technical support, and project execution to ensure responsive customer service across maintenance, repairs, upgrades, installations, commissioning, and warranty activities. The role leads and develops the service team, balances technician capability and resources, drives safe and efficient work practices, supports sales and service with technical and engineering expertise, and ensures projects, service processes, and customer commitments are delivered in line with Trane standards, customer expectations, and business performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the service coordination function to ensure an efficient response to customer needs across emergency repairs, maintenance, upgrades, installations, replacement parts, and long-term service agreements.
• Balance technician capability, training, and district resources to meet customer and operational requirements.
• Recruit, coach, train, and develop service employees, building strong customer service, process, and technical skills.
• Drive continuous improvement through performance management and technical training programs.
• Improve service team utilisation, manage expense budgets, and support strong cash flow through timely invoicing and effective work processes.
• Ensure standard service procedures are developed, followed, and continuously improved to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Maintain environmental, health, and safety compliance and provide training to support a safe workplace in the workshop and at customer sites.
• Supervise and manage Chiller DC installation and construction works to ensure quality workmanship and efficient scheduling.
• Prepare and manage DC service contract variations and support execution of project objectives in line with company processes.
• Provide leadership and on-site support for projects, including travel as required to ensure successful delivery.
• Work across customer job sites and operating environments, including outdoor locations, plant rooms, and mechanical spaces.
• Apply strong technical knowledge across DC products and systems.
• Provide reactive and proactive technical support to DC sales and project teams.
• Oversee commissioning activities for new products, high-value systems, and critical applications.
• Provide engineering support to both service and sales functions.
• Liaise with factories on technical issues, fault diagnosis, and resolution.
• Work closely with DC Team Leader FSRs on technical updates and warranty matters.
• Source and distribute service bulletins relevant to the DC product range.
• Travel nationally and internationally as required to support technical and warranty issues.
• Develop, deliver, and present training packages relating to DC products and the wider DC industry.
• Maintain an active field presence to support commissioning, warranty, and technical service work.
• Liaise with end users and contractors regarding commissioning and warranty requirements.
• Ensure commissioning projects are completed to customer satisfaction.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate work instructions and procedures for servicing, repairs, commissioning, and warranty activities.
• Conduct audits and assessments of warranty, maintenance, and commissioning allowances.
• Provide technical support for chiller and controller retrofits, upgrades, and remote monitoring solutions.
• Assist DC Administration in resolving warranty claims and customer disputes.
• Support parts identification and alternative sourcing as required.

Qualifications / Key Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business, or a related equivalent from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Alternatively, minimum 5 years’ experience in a DC Vertical / HVAC technical business environment.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience managing people, processes, and budgets.
• Preferred: Project Management qualification and previous field-based project management experience.
• Proven ability to build positive working relationships within a team, with direct reports, and with management.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise urgent versus important tasks, and schedule work accordingly.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 12 months.
