Safety Lead

We are partnering with a large, well-established organisation seeking an experienced Safety Lead to support a major distribution operation in Melbourne's western suburbs.

\n

This is a hands‐on role combining strategic safety leadership with practical operational support. You'll work closely with leaders and frontline teams to manage risk, strengthen safety capability and continue building a proactive safety culture across a fast-paced 24/7 environment.

The Role

\n

Reporting to the Head of Safety, you'll be a key safety partner to the operation with responsibilities including:

\n

• Partner with operational leaders to deliver H&S strategy, priorities and safety initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
\n
• Provide hands‐on support across incident and hazard management, risk assessments, contractor management, emergency management and safe work practices.
\n
• Lead and support incident investigations, analyse safety trends and provide practical insights and recommendations to management.
\n
• Provide H&S advice, coaching and training, helping leaders and frontline teams build capability and greater ownership of safety.
\n
• Drive consultation, compliance and continuous improvement, including safety communications, audits, training requirements and regulatory matters.

About You

\n

We're looking for a practical and engaging safety professional who is comfortable working with senior leaders while remaining visible and connected to frontline operations.

\n

You will ideally bring:

\n

\n
• A relevant Work Health & Safety qualification and at least 3 years' experience in a WHS role.
\n
• Experience within warehousing, distribution, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
\n
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian or industry standards.
\n
• Hands‐on experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, plant and equipment safety and Safe Work Practice training.
\n
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach to safety.
