Shailer Road Community Kindergarten – Shailer Park QLD

Shailer Road Community Kindergarten is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our established teaching team from 18 January 2027.

\n

This is a permanent part-time position leading our Monday–Wednesday kindergarten group of 22 children.

\n

The position is rostered 8.30am–2.45pm Monday to Wednesday, comprising 5 hours of child contact and 1.25 hours of paid non-contact time each day.

\n

We are particularly interested in finding an ECT who is excited by the opportunity to also take on the role of Educational Leader across our service. This position attracts additional paid release time and an additional allowance in accordance with our Enterprise Agreement.

\n

We're looking for someone who believes deeply in play, relationships, child voice, and responsive curriculum — an educator who enjoys thinking about pedagogy, values professional reflection, and wants the opportunity to contribute not only to their own kindergarten group, but to educational practice across the service.

Key responsibilities

\n

As the Early Childhood Teacher, you will:

\n

\n
• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality, play-based and emergent kindergarten program
\n
• Develop curriculum that reflects children's voices, strengths, cultures, interests and agency
\n
• Use intentional teaching and reflective practice to extend children's learning
\n
• Create safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments where all children can participate meaningfully
\n
• Lead and collaborate with experienced Assistant Educators within the teaching team
\n
• Build strong, respectful partnerships with children and families
\n
• Support children's wellbeing, co-regulation, self-regulation, and sense of belonging
\n
• Lead inclusive practice and collaborate with families, allied health professionals, and external support services where required
\n
• Maintain high standards of curriculum documentation, assessment, and evaluation aligned with the EYLF and QKLG
\n
• Contribute to our Quality Improvement Plan, professional discussions, and continuous improvement across the service
\n
• Actively contribute to a strong child-safe culture and uphold all child protection, regulatory, and professional responsibilities
\n

For the successful applicant appointed as Educational Leader, the role provides an opportunity to influence curriculum and pedagogy across the service, support reflective practice, and mentor and collaborate with our experienced teaching team. The Educational Leader works closely with our non-contact Director, providing dedicated leadership support and opportunities to collaborate on continuous improvement across the service.

About you

\n

We're looking for an educator who brings strong early childhood knowledge alongside warmth, curiosity, professionalism, and a genuine love of teaching kindergarten-aged children.

\n

You will have:

\n

\n
• A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification
\n
• Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers, or eligibility to obtain registration
\n
• A current Blue Card/Exemption Card
\n
• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain these prior to commencement
\n
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), National Quality Framework (NQF), and National Quality Standard (NQS)
\n
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
\n
• A commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and child-safe practice
\n
• The ability to lead, collaborate with, and mentor other educators
\n
• Strong organisational skills and a commitment to ongoing professional reflection and learning
\n

\n

Previous kindergarten teaching experience is highly regarded.

\n

Experience as an Educational Leader, or in curriculum leadership, mentoring or pedagogical leadership, will also be highly regarded.

Shailer Road Community Kindergarten is a community-owned, not-for-profit kindergarten proudly affiliated with C&K, located in Shailer Park.

\n

We are a well-established, two-unit sessional kindergarten with a long history in our local community and an experienced teaching team with very low staff turnover.

\n

Our approach to early childhood education is grounded in relationships, play, child voice, inclusion, and responsive curriculum. We see children as capable, competent, and active participants in their own learning and value educators who are thoughtful, curious, and intentional in their practice.

We also believe educators do their best work when they are trusted, supported, and given the time to do their job well. Our non-contact Director works alongside our teaching team, providing accessible leadership and support while respecting educators' professional autonomy.
