The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of 3 new bucket-wheel reclaimers including associated structural, mechanical, electrical and communications services. The Project also includes the design and construction of associated off-board scope including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the functionally safe operation of the new reclaimers.

Job Summary: \n

The Heavy Lift and Shift Supervisor will provide technical leadership, planning oversight and field supervision for all heavy lifting, rigging, heavy haul and Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) operations associated with the delivery and installation of three pre-assembled reclaimers and associated infrastructure works.

\n

The role will act as the project's subject matter expert for load handling operations, supporting marine offloading activities via the Marine Offloading Facility (MOF), transportation of reclaimers from vessel to installation locations, installation of precast foundations, rail beam construction and complex crane operations.

\n

The position will ensure all lifting, rigging and transport activities are planned, engineered, reviewed and executed safely, in accordance with project requirements, Bechtel procedures, Australian legislation and industry best practice.

Major Responsibilities: \n

• Provide technical oversight for the marine discharge and transportation of reclaimers using SPMTs.
\n
• Review and validate transport methodologies, haul routes, load configurations and contingency plans.
\n
• Coordinate SPMT setup, operation and movement activities.
\n
• Lead transport readiness reviews, pre-operation meetings and risk assessments.
\n
• Verify transport equipment configuration complies with approved transport plans.
\n
• Ensure operators, signal persons and support personnel are suitably trained and competent.
\n
• Monitor critical transport activities and provide field leadership during execution.
\n
• Coordinate interfaces between marine operations, construction teams and heavy haul contractors.
\n
• Lead planning, review and execution of all heavy lift and rigging activities.
\n
• Review and approve lift studies, lift plans, rigging arrangements and engineered lifting solutions.
\n
• Provide technical guidance to field engineers, superintendents and subcontractors.
\n
• Monitor compliance with approved lift plans and lifting procedures.
\n
• Assist in lift categorization and identify critical or engineered lift requirements.
\n
• Participate in constructability reviews and installation planning.
\n
• Conduct field verifications of crane setup, ground bearing conditions, exclusion zones and rigging configurations.
\n
• Support investigations and learning reviews relating to lifting, transport and load handling activities.
\n

Education and Experience Requirements: \n

\n
• Minimum 15 years' experience in heavy lifting, rigging and heavy haul operations.
\n
• Demonstrated experience with SPMT operations involving large prefabricated modules, industrial equipment or mining infrastructure.
\n
• Previous experience with marine load-out, discharge or roll-on/roll-off operations.
\n
• Extensive experience managing complex crane lifts in construction, mining, industrial or infrastructure projects.
\n

Required Knowledge and Skills: \n

\n
• Strong knowledge of heavy haul engineering principles and transport planning.
\n
• Demonstrated experience leading lifting and rigging teams on major projects.
\n
• Thorough understanding of Australian WHS legislation and lifting standards.
\n
• Current High Risk Work Licences relevant to the role.
\n
• Current driver's licence.
\n
• Strong leadership, planning and communication skills.
\n
