The office of Senator Andrew Bragg is seeking applications for a full-time Electorate Officer – Policy and Engagement Support based in the Senator’s Electorate Office in Paddington, NSW.
Position Overview:
The Electorate Officer – Policy and Engagement Support is a key member of the electorate office staff with responsibility for supporting various elements of the operations of the Senator’s office, both electorate and parliamentary duties.
All electorate office staff are part of a small team that work together to support and contribute to the various elements of operation of the office including policy, media and engagement. Occasional attendance at events is required.
A priority for the Electorate Officer – Policy and Engagement Support is to provide overall support to the established pillars of operation within the office.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Policy and media support:
Support in policy research, including initial preparation to support Bills and Senate reports, freedom of information requests, and research into new policy development;
Media support, including assistance in preparing media releases and opinion editorials, monitoring media, as well as support in creating media clips and media transcripts;
Support in maintaining electronic document management systems (EDMs), website updates and related data entry.
Engagement and electorate office support:
Community engagement, including being responsible for coordinating and arranging industry and community events related to the work of the electorate office;
Supporting election campaigns, including organising events relevant to the duty seats assigned to the Senator;
Support in actioning office correspondence, such as ministerial and constituent responses - including written correspondence, telephone enquiries, supporting issues campaigns, and liaison with agencies and parliamentary offices.
Other tasks as directed from time-to-time.

Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Attention to detail, working well under pressure with the support of colleagues;
Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team and to engage with community stakeholders;
Well-developed, office, IT and publishing skills;
Punctuality and a high level of organisational ability;
An understanding of government and parliamentary processes;
Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
A commencing salary between $77,071 and $81,594 per annum will be negotiated based on experience and relevant skills.
An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work and any travel requirements.
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
