An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will
\n
- \n
- Provide specialist Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (AODS) interventions to consumers in the Emergency Department (ED) and medical/mental health wards \n
- Make recommendations for treatment from an AODS perspective \n
- Assess AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) and mental health risks within an acute environment \n
- Understand hospital processes and network with teams \n
- Work proactively with hospital staff to reduce stigma associated with substance misuse \n

About you
\n
To be successful in this position you will require:
\n
- \n
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent \n
- AHPRA Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (Nurses only) \n
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B \n
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required \n
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed \n
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost) \n

- Base salary ranging from $57.76 - $61.85 per hour \n

The Gold Coast AODS service is a specialist service that provides a range of treatments for the severe and complex drug and alcohol individuals and families. Gold Coast Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) service provides a range of community based AOD programs and a Consultation Liaison service which include;

- Assessment, treatment & referral to other relevant agencies in both community and hospital settings. \n
- Counselling & Group Programs \n
- Advice and support regarding withdrawal management \n
- Brief intervention and treatment recommendations to consumers presenting to Emergency Department (ED) or admitted to medical wards. \n
- Support & Case Management \n
- Information and education \n
- Pharmacotherapy \n
- Community engagement forums for families, carers and key stakeholders \n
- Specialist AOD Training for service providers \n
