Workshop Foreman

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Workshop Foreman to lead our workshop team and oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our vehicle and trailer fleet. This is a key role for someone who combines strong mechanical knowledge with excellent organisational and people-management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while keeping the fleet on the road and workshop operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support workshop technicians.
\n
• Plan and allocate daily workshop jobs and manage workflow.
\n
• Oversee servicing, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance of our fleet vehicles and trailers.
\n
• Diagnose and assist with complex mechanical and electrical faults.
\n
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
\n
• Conduct quality checks on completed maintenance items.
\n
• Assist with workshop priorities and parts requirements.
\n
• Liaise with drivers, operations staff and management regarding fleet requirements.
\n
• Ensure workshop records, service histories and job documentation is recorded accurately.
\n
• Ensure compliance with workplace OH&S requirements and relevant heavy vehicle regulations.

About you

\n

\n
• Proven experience in a heavy vehicle or fleet workshop environment.
\n
• Experience with Cummins engines, Road Ranger gearboxes and Meritor Differentials is highly regarded.
\n
• HVAIS Examiner Qualifications highly regarded.
\n
• Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
\n
• Previous experience supervising or leading a workshop team.
\n
• Relevant trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic.
\n
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance, heavy vehicle and trailer repairs.
\n
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
\n
• A practical, hands-on approach and strong attention to detail.
\n
• The ability to prioritise work in a busy workshop environment.
\n
• Good communication and leadership skills.
\n
• A strong commitment to safety and quality.
