The Freedom Hub exists to end modern slavery in Australia and help survivors rebuild their lives. Our Survivor School provides long-term, trauma-informed support and practical pathways to independence for adults who have experienced modern slavery here in our country.

This is a highly independent role. You will shape the program locally, with weekly reporting to the CEO on growth KPIs for survivors, volunteers and advocacy.
\n
Your hours are flexible over a 48 hour fortnight, some weeks requiring more hours than others. You will be supported with monthly professional supervision, program frameworks and a CEO who understands the weight of this complex and varied role.
\n
The goal is to create a safe, stable and motivating environment where survivors of modern slavery are supported to engage in classes, build skills, restore confidence and move towards long-term employment, independence and thriving. Our focus is on their future freedom, not their past experience.

Key responsibilities

- Interviewing, selecting and onboarding new referrals at a location where they feel safe \n
- Teaching, mentoring and group facilitation with trauma-affected adults \n
- Trauma-informed survivor support \n
- Providing volunteer and team culture, leadership, training and engagement \n
- Program coordination and school operations \n
- Community engagement, advocacy out to NGO's and frontline workers, finding referrals and representing The Freedom Hub in occasional evening or weekend events. \n
- Flexible crisis responses, sometimes outside standard working hours \n

About you
\n
- \n
- A positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic person who loves life, team culture and seeing the best in people \n
- Minimum 2 years of experience in teaching or facilitating classes for trauma-affected individuals, making their learning feel safe, practical and empowering \n
- Minimum 2 years of experience coordinating and managing volunteers \n
- Minimum 2 years experience recruiting, motivating and leading volunteers: building and developing your committed volunteer team, and keeping them engaged \n
- Confidence networking and speaking with community services, NGOs and referral partners \n
- Resilience and experience in grounding complex trauma triggers; a solid understanding of trauma-informed practice and understanding the charity world of working with a very limited budget \n
- Flexibility to occasionally work out of hours for events, urgent survivor needs or occasional travel across Qld if required. \n
- Tech-savvy and confident using online platforms for case management, reporting and communication \n
- Current Working With Children Check (NSW) or willingness to obtain \n
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain \n
- Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia \n
- Current driver's licence and a car to travel across South East Qld when required \n
