A.M.J. Produce Pty Ltd is a wholesale supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables based in Pooraka, South Australia. The company operates a wholesale warehouse and climate-controlled cold storage facility, supplying fresh produce to restaurants, caterers and other wholesale customers.

Position Overview

AMJ Produce is seeking a reliable Cold Store Operator to handle, store, pick and prepare fresh fruit and vegetable products within its wholesale warehouse and climate-controlled storage facilities. The role supports the timely preparation and dispatch of fresh produce orders to restaurants, caterers and other wholesale customers, while maintaining product quality, food safety and workplace standards.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

● Receive, handle and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other produce in designated warehouse and climate-controlled storage areas.

● Stack and arrange produce safely and appropriately within cold stores, including maintaining suitable pallet spacing, product identification and labelling.

● Pick fresh produce accurately according to customer orders and dispatch requirements.

● Select, check and prepare produce for orders supplied to restaurants, caterers and other wholesale customers.

● Carefully handle fresh and seasonal produce to minimise damage, deterioration and product wastage.

● Inspect produce during picking and packing and identify, separate and report damaged, defective or unsuitable products.

● Pack produce securely and appropriately to maintain product quality during storage, handling and delivery.

● Organise and stage completed orders for timely dispatch in accordance with delivery schedules and customer requirements.

● Rotate stock appropriately to support freshness and minimise spoilage, including applying FIFO (First In, First Out) principles where applicable.

● Maintain accurate records relating to stock, orders, product handling and other warehouse activities as required by the company's procedures.

● Maintain clean, orderly and hygienic cold-store, warehouse and packing areas in accordance with food-safety and HACCP requirements.

● Follow established food-safety, quality-control, workplace health and safety and manual-handling procedures.

● Work safely in refrigerated and cold-storage environments and undertake repetitive manual handling associated with the movement and preparation of fresh produce.

● Assist with loading, unloading, movement and staging of produce and orders within the warehouse as required.

● Assist with general warehouse and produce-handling duties to support the efficient operation of AMJ Produce's wholesale distribution activities.

● Perform other duties reasonably required in connection with the storage, handling, preparation and dispatch of fresh produce.

Candidate Requirements

Education

● At least a relevant AQF Certificate II (or equivalent) qualification; or

● At least 1 year of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification.

Experience

● Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.

Skills and Other Requirements

● Attention to detail and accuracy.

● Ability to meet deadlines and follow instructions.

● Reliable and able to work independently or in a team.

● Previous warehouse experience (desirable).

● Ability to lift and carry heavy items, with good physical fitness for repetitive manual handling.

● Strong understanding of and adherence to WHS, food-safety and hygiene standards.

● Willingness to work in a cold storage/refrigerated environment, including early starts (from 3:00 AM), six days per week.

Salary - $70,000 - $85,000 plus super.
