We are seeking an experienced risk governance professional to own the end-to-end governance, reporting and secretariat relationship between the Office of the Chief Security & Risk Officer (CSRO), the Board, and its subcommittees, principally the Risk Committee and the Audit Committee.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role for someone who has mastered the craft of corporate governance and Board-level writing and communication, and who can operate with genuine urgency in a fast-moving, transformation-heavy environment. Working closely with the CSRO, EGM Integrated Risk & Controls Management (IRCM), Executive Committee members and key governance stakeholders, you will translate complex risk, culture and control i into clear, actionable and impactful material for the Board and its sub-committees.

What You'll Do

\n

\n
• Establish contemporary risk governance practices and forums for Optus Management and act as a trusted advisor and challenge function on governance practice across Optus, modern terms of reference, actionable risk intelligence, decision rights and escalation pathways.
\n
• Lead the end-to-end governance and secretariat function for the CSRO, coordinating papers, packs, minutes, actions and follow-up for the Risk and Audit Committees.
\n
• Own the preparation, review and quality assurance of Board and Committee papers, ensuring they are accurate, evidence-based and impactful, while maintaining strong document control.
\n
• Manage governance calendars, meeting agendas, action tracking and reporting deadlines, ensuring high-quality and timely stakeholder contributions.
\n
• Partner with the EGM, IRCM and CSRO to shape Board reporting on risk, culture, controls and governance initiatives.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement of governance processes, templates and reporting cadence in line with Optus' governance transformation.
\n
• Coordinate risk reporting with Singtel Group, ensuring alignment of key messages, escalations and governance requirements.
\n
• Build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across Risk, Audit, Compliance, Legal and Executive Committee where needed.

What makes you perfect for the role?

\n

\n
• 10+ years' experience in corporate governance, risk governance, company secretariat or Chief of Staff-type roles supporting Group CRO, CEO, CSRO or equivalent C-suite executive, ideally in a regulated, listed or Board-governed environment.
\n
• Deep knowledge of Board and Board Committee governance practices, including papers, minutes, terms of reference, RACI and escalation protocols for Risk and Audit Committees.
\n
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling Board and Executive-level material.
\n
• A genuine craft for corporate governance — meticulous attention to accuracy, structure, tone and evidentiary standard in everything produced for the Board. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills and confidence engaging with C-suite leaders, Board members and governance teams.
\n
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgement.
\n
• Sound understanding of enterprise risk management, controls assurance and/or cyber and security risk concepts (highly regarded, not mandatory).
\n
• Experience supporting organisational transformation programs relating to risk, culture or governance uplift is highly valued.
\n
