Operations Manager

Urban Angels Community Kitchen is a platform for bringing the community together, creating and distributing a ready stock of nutritious frozen meals for people who need support. UACK was developed from understanding the challenges faced where, as a result of illness, trauma or other significant difficulty, it becomes an ordeal to arrange a nutritious, balanced meal.

Feedback from recipients indicates that this gesture can have a profound impact, helping people in distress feel supported and move toward healing. The compassion of our volunteers is embedded in every meal they prepare and distribute, extending care and connection far beyond the food itself.

About the opportunity

The newly created Operations Manager position will be responsible for the strategic planning, daily management, and project delivery for the Urban Angels Community Kitchen (UACK).

Reporting to the Unit Manager of Urban Angels, you will be accountable for effective delivery of kitchen operations, food production, logistics, compliance, resource management and staff supervision to achieve service objectives and community outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the UACK, including food preparation, inventory management and delivery logistics, ensuring efficient and compliant operations
• Ensure compliance with food safety, WH&S, and relevant legislative requirements
• Monitor budgets and resources while ensuring compliance with organisational processes and delegated authorities
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and key stakeholders to support service delivery outcomes
• Prepare reports, analyse data, and coordinate stakeholder communications including newsletters and social media content
• Provide supervision, support and training to employees and volunteers to foster a positive workplace culture
• Lead workforce planning, rostering, onboarding, and performance management in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
• Drive continuous improvement to improve operational efficiency, service quality, and program growth

Requirements of the role

• Experience leading diverse teams comprising of employees and volunteers
• Proven success in delivering operations within food services, hospitality, or similar environment
• Sound understanding of Food Safety Standards, HACCP Principles, and WH&S legislation
• Relevant qualifications in Hospitality, Business, Leadership and Management or a related discipline are highly desirable
• Ability to manage operational budgets, resources and compliance obligations
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a community-focused mindset
• Strong prioritisation, time management and adaptability skills to manage competing demands of the program

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful

• Valid Queensland Driver’s Licence with no restrictions
• Queensland Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
• Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
• Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current employer)
• National Crime Check (a new check will be completed through IFYS systems)
