Job description
Our client is a non-bank lender providing invoice finance, supply chain finance and business loans to Australian SMEs. This is a small team with direct decision-making and genuine commercial exposure, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership rather than within a large corporate legal function.
This is the first dedicated in-house legal role, giving you the opportunity to own the legal function end to end and work directly with the Director.
What you'll do
- Draft, review and improve facility documentation across invoice finance, supply chain finance and secured business loans
- Manage the security position - GSAs, PPSR registrations and verification, guarantees, caveats, mortgages and priority arrangements
- Run recovery and enforcement matters, including demands, security enforcement, guarantor recovery and instructing external counsel on litigated matters
- Protect our client's position in insolvency, including voluntary administrations, liquidations, proofs of debt, secured creditor strategy and DOCA analysis
- Support the funding structure, including warehouse and noteholder documentation, covenant and reporting obligations
- Work closely with credit on transaction structuring to ensure deals are properly documented from the outset
- Keep compliance requirements current across AML/CTF, privacy and contract governance
What you'll bring
- 4-6 years' post-admission experience in banking and finance, restructuring and insolvency, or commercial litigation
- Practical PPSA capability - not theoretical. You have experience registering, verifying and enforcing security interests
- Current NSW practising certificate
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to distinguish between risks that should be documented and risks that should be priced
- Comfortable operating independently without a large legal team around you
What's on offer
- Direct reporting line to the Director, with the opportunity to provide advice that directly influences commercial decisions
- Genuine breadth across transactional, enforcement, insolvency and funding work
- Hybrid working arrangement from our client's North Shore office
