Accounts Clerk

Shangri-La the Marina, Cairns is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Clerk to join our Finance team.

Located beside the Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns, Shangri-La the Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel featuring 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments, while supporting the Finance team with supplier reconciliations and monthly financial processes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in getting the details right and is confident communicating with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities will include:

• Accurately processing supplier invoices, ensuring appropriate purchase orders, authorisations and General Ledger coding requirements have been followed.




• Preparing weekly payment runs and ensuring invoices are processed within supplier payment terms.




• Supporting effective management of supplier payments and hotel cash outflow.




• Distributing approved payments and remittance advices in accordance with supplier and departmental requirements.




• Maintaining accurate and orderly filing of paid invoices and Purchase Orders.




• Preparing manual payments when required, while maintaining appropriate financial controls.




• Reconciling supplier accounts on a monthly basis and following up on discrepancies.




• Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment queries.




• Balancing monthly inventory and stock purchases with Cost Control.




• Supporting the Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller with other Finance-related duties as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and highly attentive to detail, with a genuine interest in developing their accounting career.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• An Accounting Certificate.




• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.




• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.




• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.




• The ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.




• A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.




• Previous experience in a hotel environment is desirable.

You will be someone who takes ownership of your work, follows processes carefully and understands the importance of accuracy and timeliness within a Finance function.
