About the role:

\n

KONGSBERG Australia is looking for skilled and motivated Production Technicians to join our growing team at the KONGSBERG Missile Factory in Williamtown. As a Production Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in the assembly, inspection, testing and maintenance of complex electro-mechanical systems and components. This is more than a manufacturing role. You'll be part of a highly skilled team supporting the production of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) and Joint Strike Missile (JSM), advanced defence systems that contribute to global defence.

Your day-to-day work will include:

\n

\n
• Assembling, inspecting, testing and maintaining electro-mechanical components and sub-assemblies in accordance with procedures, drawings and technical documentation.
\n
• Supporting missile assembly, testing, inspection and final acceptance activities.
\n
• Performing functional tests and verification activities to ensure products meet stringent technical and quality requirements.
\n
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions and technical manuals.
\n
• Using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, torque tooling, fixtures and production test equipment.
\n
• Identifying, reporting and assisting in the resolution of non-conformances, defects and manufacturing issues in accordance with quality management processes.
\n
• Maintaining accurate production documentation and records to ensure quality, traceability and compliance.
\n
• Safely handling, moving and storing sensitive materials, hazardous substances and explosive ordnance in accordance with approved procedures.
\n
• Maintaining production equipment, tooling and work areas to a high standard.
\n
• Working closely with Production, Planning, Engineering and Quality teams to achieve safe and efficient production outcomes.
\n
• Contributing to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, structured problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
\n
• Supporting FOD, ESD, EO and HSE compliance and helping foster a positive safety and quality culture.
\n
• Sharing your knowledge through training and mentoring team members where required.
\n

\n

What you'll Bring:

\n

\n
• Certificate IV in Aeroskills, Manufacturing, Engineering or an equivalent trade qualification, or relevant experience in manufacturing, maintenance or production.
\n
• Experience in defence, aerospace, automotive, mining, rail or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
\n
• Demonstrated experience assembling and maintaining complex mechanical and electronic systems.
\n
• The ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, specifications and work instructions.
\n
• Practical experience using hand tools, precision measurement equipment, torque tooling and production test equipment.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship, safety and compliance.
\n

Desirable

\n

\n
• Current NV1 security clearance.
\n
• Cert IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
\n
• Explosive Ordnance training or experience.
\n
• Cert III Surface Finishing or equivalent.
\n
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 training.
\n
• Experience working with explosive ordnance, hazardous materials or defence related products.
\n
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and 5S principles.
\n
• Experience applying protective paint coatings, particularly LO and RAM coatings.
\n
• Experience with rigging, lifting, docking and the safe movement of high-value mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
\n

Flexible start dates | November 2026 - January 2027

\n

Our goal is to have the full team onboard by January 2027, however, we may accommodate earlier start dates as required. Don't have an NV1 security clearance yet? International Training in Norway

\n

As part of the role, successful candidates will be required to travel to Norway for mandatory specialised training. This is a unique opportunity to train alongside KONGSBERG's international teams and gain first-hand experience with our global manufacturing processes and standards.
