Safety Specialist

We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Senior Safety & Wellbeing Partner to join a respected Not-for-Profit Aged Care & Community Services provider.

Reporting directly to the Head of Safety & Wellbeing, this role moves beyond top-down compliance. You will act as a trusted advisor to clinical leaders, site managers, and operational teams, translating safety metrics into practical prevention strategies and fostering a psychologically safe, high-performing culture across multi-site environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Consultative Business Partnering: Coach and influence operational leaders and clinical managers to take ownership of workplace health, safety, and psychosocial risks through open dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.
• Psychosocial Risk Management: Lead the rollout and ongoing management of a proactive psychosocial safety framework, manage corrective actions from recent workforce surveys, and integrate risk indicators across site teams.
• Compliance & Audit Program: Conduct robust WHS management system audits incorporating desktop reviews, staff interviews, and site observations to strengthen risk controls and regulatory compliance.
• Safety Intelligence & Trend Analysis: Analyse incident data, hazard reports, and injury mechanisms to deliver actionable safety intelligence and trend commentary for executive leadership and governance committees.
• Leadership & Capability Building: Design and deliver engaging in-person leadership training, hazard awareness sessions, and holistic employee wellbeing initiatives.

About You

• Experience: 5–7+ years of practical WHS experience, ideally within Aged Care, Healthcare, Community Services, or high-touch multi-site operational environments.
• Interpersonal Approach: Exceptional consultative and relationship-building skills with a proven track record of influencing clinical or operational stakeholders through empathy, coaching, and business acumen rather than rigid policy enforcement.
• Technical Strengths: Solid exposure to WHS management system auditing, psychosocial risk frameworks, and incident investigation methodologies.
• Mobility: Willingness to undertake site visits across metro and regional locations (minimum 2 days/week partnering onsite; all travel, mileage, and tolls fully reimbursed).
• Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in WHS or related discipline; Lead Auditor or Psychosocial/Mental Health training is highly desirable.
