The Information Services Librarian at the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) works across the Library and Information Services team with a focus on information and research services including in-depth literature searching; responding to internal and external stakeholder queries; assisting the Senior Research Editor with publications; assisting with citation analysis of AIC publications; and assisting with online and in-person events. The role provides support to researchers including small group training and preparing user guides and related material.

Role Responsibilities

As an Information Services Librarian, you will:

• Develop and undertake in-depth literature searches on behalf of researchers.
• Respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Create and provide small group training sessions and produce user guides and related material.
• Assist with online and in person events and meetings including bookings setup, material preparation, online moderation and in-person set up and tear down.
• Assist the Senior Research Editor with reference checking and related publications tasks.
• Undertake citation analysis.
• Assist with other library duties as required.
• Other tasks at level in keeping with working in a small agency.

Your Skills and Capabilities

We invite applications from people with the following experience, skills and attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association.
• Demonstrated recent experience in providing reference support, preferably in a research environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise with external and internal clients and organisations.
• Experience or training in providing small group training and preparing training materials and user guides.
• Ability to provide support for online and in person events including familiarity with Teams and booking systems.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and organise time effectively and efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly as a member of a small team, and willingness to undertake duties consistent with the operations of a small organisation.

Eligibility Requirements

• Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
• Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
