This resort is the gateway to the breathtaking Ikara-Flinders Ranges, located 430 kilometres north of Adelaide. Set within an extraordinary 800-million-year-old landscape, Wilpena offers guests unforgettable experiences including scenic flights, 4WD tours, bushwalking, mountain biking and Aboriginal cultural experiences.

As the only accommodation located within the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, the resort features 76 cabins and resort rooms, more than 200 camping sites and glamping accommodation. The property is a large and diverse tourism operation, complete with a visitor information centre, restaurant, café, supermarket, petrol station and bottle shop.

About the Role

\n

The Operations Manager will play a critical role in driving the performance and continued uplift of Discovery Resorts - Wilpena.

\n

Leading a team of approximately 60, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of this large, multifaceted property. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for an energetic leader who can think quickly, solve problems and bring people together to deliver outstanding results.

\n

Key responsibilities

• Lead, engage and develop a large team, creating a positive, accountable and high-performing culture.
\n
• Oversee daily operations across accommodation, tours, Food & Beverage, retail, maintenance and guest services.
\n
• Work closely with the General Manager to deliver budgets, control costs and improve commercial performance.
\n
• Manage rostering, recruitment and workforce planning across a fast-paced, seven-day operation.
\n
• Oversee stock receiving, ordering, inventory control and supplier coordination.
\n
• Ensure maintenance, property works, WHS and operational compliance requirements are effectively managed.
\n
• Maintain strong service standards across tours and guest experiences, using feedback and guest surveys to identify improvements.
\n
• Be a visible, hands-on leader who can quickly resolve challenges and keep the entire operation moving.

About You

\n

We're seeking a confident, results-driven hospitality leader with the resilience and focus to thrive in a complex remote operation. Highly organised and commercially minded, you'll lead from the front, solve problems decisively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Most importantly, you’ll be ready to take ownership.

To be successful you will have:

• Proven leadership experience within a resort, tourism, accommodation or large hospitality operation.
\n
• A current driver’s licence – Essential.
\n
• Current RSA, RP accreditation and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain them.
\n
• A Medium Rigid license or higher is highly regarded.
\n
• Experience with H&L or similar Food & Beverage systems, along with RMS or a comparable property management system.
\n
• Experience leading and developing large, diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.
\n
• Strong experience in rostering, recruitment, budgeting, reporting and cost control.
\n
• A practical, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to assess challenges and act quickly.
