Occupational Health and Hygiene Coordinator I HumeLink West

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the ~140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health and Hygiene Coordinator to join our Health, Safety & Environment team. Based in Sydney and reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this 5 days on / 2 days off (5/2) role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that effectively manage occupational health and hygiene risks across the project.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Provide strategic advice, guidance, and support to project teams across all aspects of occupational health and hygiene.
• Undertake occupational hygiene assessments relating to respirable and inhalable dust, respirable crystalline silica (RCS), diesel particulate matter, hazardous substances, noise, vibration, and other occupational health hazards.
• Develop and implement monitoring programs to assess workplace exposures and verify the effectiveness of controls.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and workplace assessments to ensure compliance with legislation, project requirements, standards, and industry best practice.
• Analyse occupational hygiene monitoring data and prepare reports, recommendations, and improvement initiatives.
• Support the development and implementation of processes and programs that promote a healthy working environment for project personnel.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, subcontractors, client representatives, and other key stakeholders through consultation, engagement, and collaboration.
• Engage with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with occupational health requirements and emerging industry expectations.
• Assist with incident investigations and health-related risk assessments where required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Completion of the W201 Basic Principles in Occupational Hygiene course or equivalent qualification (Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene or similar).
• Provisional Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) or eligibility to apply.
• Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene practices, particularly relating to respirable and inhalable dust, respirable crystalline silica, and other construction or infrastructure-related health risks.
• Experience implementing health monitoring and exposure assessment programs within large-scale construction, infrastructure, mining, energy, or industrial environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence frontline workers, supervisors, and project leadership teams.
• Ability to interpret exposure monitoring results and provide practical risk management recommendations.
• Sound understanding of relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards, and occupational hygiene principles.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card).
• Possess a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing, prior to commencement.
