Job description

About the job

Morgan McKinley is exclusively partnering with a growing Foreign Exchange Business in Sydney to source a Compliance & Risk Analyst. This unique opportunity is not advertised on the open market or through any other agency.

Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance within a collaborative team, you will play a key operational role across the entire risk and compliance function. On a day-to-day basis, you will be deeply involved in customer onboarding and AML/CTF due diligence, conducting sanctions and PEP screening, carrying out transaction monitoring, and reviewing compliance policies and risk registers.

Working in a small, agile business means your scope will also extend into supporting regulatory reporting, tracking legislative changes, and assisting with light general business operations.

The company is committed to long-term career growth, offering direct mentorship from the Head of Compliance alongside a clear trajectory to expand your title, remuneration, and responsibilities as the business continues to scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring investigations in line with AUSTRAC standards.
  • Assist with compliance assurance monitoring, breach management, policy reviews, and the delivery of internal training materials.
  • Coordinate risk register reviews and help identify, assess, and report on operational and financial crime risks.
  • Support the Head of Compliance with regulatory filings, Board reporting, and tracking regulatory change across the payments landscape.
  • Assist with light operational administrative duties, including maintaining registers, managing desk set-ups, and handling corporate social media.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience within financial services, compliance, risk, or financial crime (motivated graduates with relevant degrees will also be considered).
  • Working knowledge of, or a strong desire to learn, relevant regulatory frameworks (such as AUSTRAC, ASIC, and AFCA).
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with exceptional attention to detail and sound ethical judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise across internal teams and escalate potential risks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines within a dynamic, regulated environment.
