• Base Salary: From $90,363.00 (Grade 14, Step 1) per annum

• Plus: 12% superannuation
\n
• Total Package: $101,206.56 per annum
\n

The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.

The Opportunity \n

Strathfield Council is seeking a motivated Environmental Projects Officer – Biodiversity and Biosecurity to join our team.

\n

In this role, you will lead environmental projects and initiatives that protect and enhance biodiversity across our community. You will work closely with residents, community groups, government agencies and internal teams to promote environmental conservation, strengthen biosecurity practices and deliver meaningful environmental outcomes.

\n

What You Will Be Doing \n

\n
• Lead and deliver biodiversity and biosecurity programs, projects and initiatives
\n
• Coordinate biosecurity inspections, surveillance and investigations
\n
• Monitor compliance and take appropriate regulatory action, including issuing notices, orders and infringement penalties where required
\n
• Develop and deliver community education programs focused on biosecurity, weed management and environmental conservation
\n
• Provide advice to residents, businesses and stakeholders on biodiversity and biosecurity requirements
\n
• Manage grants, procurement processes, tenders and contractor relationships
\n
• Build strong partnerships with community groups, government agencies and environmental organisations
\n
• Contribute to biodiversity and biosecurity policies, plans and operational frameworksPrepare program reporting and monitor outcomes against targets
\n
• Represent Council at relevant forums, committees and stakeholder meetings.
\n
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Ecology or a related discipline
\n
• Proven experience in the environment and sustainability field, including project, grants, and contract management and delivery of sustainability initiatives, policies and plans
\n
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including interagency and community consultation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
\n
• Demonstrated experience in grant administration and reporting
\n
• Experience in the design, implementation and management of community engagement programs
\n
• Demonstrated a high level of organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, exercise initiative and meet targets
\n
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, when required
\n
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.
\n
• Demonstrated experience in delivering a priority or biodiversity program, preferably in a public sector setting.
\n
