About Our School \n

St Joseph’s Murgon is a Primary School offering families a parish-based, inclusive, holistic and future focused education within the Murgon area. We are a Marist school imbued with the spirit and charism of the Presentation Sisters, Edmund Rice and our First Nations peoples, with an enrolment of over 110 students spread across our seven well provisioned classroom.

We offer small class sizes and an authentic rural school setting enriched by our high percentage of First Nations students. Additionally, teachers receive approximately forty minutes of extra planning preparation and correction time weekly and are supported in all classrooms by a full-time school officer. The school is exceptionally well resourced, with all students having 1:1 iPads and two school busses ready to provide exciting excursion opportunities to engage their learners, locally or further afield.

Murgon (so named from the Aboriginal word meaning a lily pond), is located in the beautiful South Burnett region, just a little over two hours from the Sunshine Coast or Brisbane. • Work hours: 20 hours per week on a part time continuing basis.
\n
\n
• 2026: For the remainder of 2026 a variation will be in place for 30 hours per week.
\n
• 2027: A variation will be in place for 22.5 hours per week.
\n
\n
• Salary: $36.99 per hour + super (School Salary Scale)
\n
• Status: Part Time Continuing with additional variations in place year by year

About The Opportunity \n

\n
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of effective cultural programs for students including the use of technology and learning support activities
\n
• Improving student learning outcomes by providing support and advice for students with diverse cultural needs
\n
• Monitoring the progress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and identifying learning areas
\n
• Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure that appropriate support services meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
\n
• Work with stakeholders to provide practical assistance and a safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students.
\n

About You \n

• Planning and delivering cultural programs, including using technology and learning support activities
\n
• Ability to provide tailored support to improve learning outcomes for students with diverse cultural needs
\n
• Monitoring and assessing the progress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
\n
• Collaboration skills to work with teachers and staff
\n
• Ability to work with many different stakeholders to create a supportive and safe space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
\n
• Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island descent
\n
• For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
\n
• It is a preference that you would have a driver’s licence.
