Wine & Larder is an independent neighbourhood wine bar and restaurant in Ashgrove. We're looking for an enthusiastic sommelier who loves discovering great wines, enjoys the buzz of service and wants to help shape what comes next.

You'll develop our wine list alongside the owner, introduce guests to their next favourite bottle and work with the chef on pairings that bring the food and wine together.
\n
This is a hands-on role with room for your ideas. Whether you're an experienced sommelier or a knowledgeable wine waiter ready to step up, it's an opportunity to take ownership, develop your skills and build relationships with our guests and suppliers.
Key responsibilities \n
Develop and maintain a thoughtful wine list, balancing quality, variety and value
\n
Select wines and manage supplier relationships, ordering and stock within an agreed budget
\n
Maintain wine costings, pricing and margins
\n
Lead wine service and recommend bottles and food pairings to suit each guest’s tastes and budget
\n
Look after wine storage, serving temperatures and opened bottles, keeping wastage under control
\n
Share wine knowledge with the team through tastings and service briefings
\n
Work closely with the kitchen and floor team during service
\n
Welcoming guests, taking orders, serving tables and processing payments
\n
Supervise the front of house team during shifts
About you \n
You care about what goes into every glass, bring a positive attitude and enjoy working with a small team. You're organised, curious and able to stay focused when service gets busy.
\n
Strong knowledge of Australian and international wines
\n
Practical restaurant and wine-service experience
\n
Confident recommending wines, explaining styles and suggesting food pairings
\n
Experience managing a wine list, or the skills and readiness to take that next step
\n
An understanding of stock control, ordering and wine costings
\n
WSET Level 3 in Wines or a comparable wine qualification preferred
\n
Current RSA certification accepted in Queensland
\n
Available to work Wednesday-Saturday
Four-day working week \n
Wednesday to Saturday

38 ordinary paid hours, with paid annual and personal/carer's leave

wine-list development, ordering, costings, agreed supplier tastings and closing duties included in working hours
Super and applicable extras \n
12% super, plus applicable penalties, overtime and allowances
